1. To ensure the appropriate and practical training of university students within a community setting:


➢ Collaborate with strategic partners to provide the opportunity for university students to equip themselves with the necessary skills needed to fulfil their professional duties.


➢ Collaborate with strategic partners to provide the community with specialist services that is accessible and affordable.


➢ Collaborate with strategic partners to broaden and expand services provided by the university and its partners.


2. To promote health and wellness in the community:


➢ Support and initiate support groups for youth and elderly


➢ Organise a Sports Day


➢ Organise recreational programmes


➢ Advocate for health lifestyle – walking/running groups, sporting activities and education of healthy eating habits


3. To refer to the relevant services:


➢ Collaborate with strategic partners to set up an effective referral system.


➢ Assessment of patients and vulnerable groups.


 4. To facilitate the initiation of social and support groups:


➢ Promote sustainable community participation on all levels.


➢ Encourage a spirit of co-existence and peer support amongst community members, which are vital for self-perpetuation and sustainability of services.


 5. To participate at ECD Centers:


➢ Develop a resource that is appropriate and accessible to the community.


➢ Encourage the full involvement of parents in the management of the centers.


➢ Be available to offer a consultative service.


➢ To conduct basic screening of children.


 6. To offer community courses and workshops:


➢ Expose and train community members in creative activity as a medium to facilitate healthy development, capacity building and empowerment.


➢ Organize a careers open day.


➢ Promote UWC programmes and enrolment.


 7. To encourage social integration of persons with disabilities:


➢ Improve independent community living skills.


➢ Encourage the equalization of opportunities for the disabled.


➢ Promote fun and therapeutic outings.


 8. To support poverty relieving projects:


➢ Offer relief to needy clients thereby uplifting community spirit.


➢ Focus on malnutrition- soup kitchens and food gardens


➢ Sharing and transferring of knowledge and skills, thereby building capacity among community members.


➢ Advocate for access to basic services.


 9. To participate in health and social care service delivery:


➢ Working with professional staff in the clinics and social development organisations that offers services.



10. To promote health and wellness in schools:


  • ➢ Developing health promoting schools


  • ➢ Carrying out screening


  • ➢ Design, implement and evaluate health promotion projects in the schools



11. To collaborate with partners to offer home-based services:


  • ➢ Promote an improved quality of life.


  • ➢ Promote health and wellness.


  • ➢ Educate and practically involve family members with intervention programmes.
